Welcome to the grand opening of a brand new Soul-Arena clan tournament!

We have good food, shit memes, lots of nostalgia and most importantly Soul Coins for those that prove they are the very best.

Signups have concluded and this tournament is currently ongoing. You may ask to join any of the currently participating clans for a shot at the prizes yourself, there's still time!

**REWARDS**

Everyone that participates with at least 1 set played will get an ingame emote. Everyone that wins at least 1 set will get an additional ingame emote.

**GENERAL RULES**
--------------------------------------------------------
1. One clan may submit up to 2 rosters. Multiple rosters from the same clan will be treated as separate clans
2. You may add or remove players to your players list at any time however they cannot play for your clan during the active week if they already played for a different clan
3. There is no limit to amount of substitutes that can be signed up. Previously listed substitutes may be subbed in at any time. Same clan rosters may share list of substitutes but they cannot be subbed into both rosters in the same week.
4. Staff reserves the right to make a tournament wide ban on any character that is deemed too bugged to be included in possible picks
5. Submit your clan signup with the following format:

**WAR RULES**
--------------------------------------------------------

1. Wars are Last Man Standing 5 vs 5 Best of 5s
2. Each clan gets to ban 3 characters initially. In the in-game draft players each ban additional 3 characters. You may change your in-game bans for each game in the set, however the 3 clan bans remain for all the games and all the sets in the war
3. Full teams are banned ( AoE, Stun, Drain, Counter/Reflect, Heal). 2/3 Drain characters count as full team. Reflect and Counter are counted as one and the same for this rule. Strategic AoE is not counted as AoE, however damaging skills that can conditionally become AoE due to characters kit, make that character AoE. (Example: Res Grimmjows Hindering Darts can hit multiple targets with 2+ stacks making him AoE). Starrk and Shinji are exceptions to this rule as their condition depends on opponents team and not themselves. (Starrk is only considered AoE and Shinji AoE and Counter). Ressurection abilities are not considered heal (Example Metastacia's Rebirth, Kidou Momo's Suspending Star).
4. You cannot repeat a character that you previously selected. You cannot repeat opponents team. Repeating 2/3 characters your opponent used in the same team counts as repeating your opponents team
5. You may not ban a character that both you and your opponent used previously during the set
6. Only games that have been correctly logged in match replay and/or users profiles count as completed matches
7. Rematches in case of non-gamebreaking bugs ( bugs that didn't affect the outcome of the match) , player disconnecting, a person using a banned character/combo will be decided by the winning player.
8. Characters banned by default: Kyoraku Shunsui
9. Characters released in the first batch of new characters (Example : Hueco Mundo Byakuya) are banned for the time being
10. Temporary characters such as Naruto anniversary characters are banned

**TOURNAMENT FORMAT**
--------------------------------------------------------

1. Clans will be separated into two groups for the initial stage phase. Every clan from Group A will play every clan from Group B.
2. 5-0 and 5-1 wins will count as 3 points. 5-4, 5-3 and 5-2 will count as 2 points. In case of a draw where both clans had valid reasons why they didn't finish it, both clans get 1 point. If dodging is established as the reason for draw with screenshot proofs, the clan that wasn't dodging gets an additional set win. This set win is not counted towards MVP award.
3. Following conclusion of stage phase, two clans from each group with the highest amount of points move to semi-finals. 1st from Group A will face 2nd from Group A and same for Group B
4. There is no losers bracket
5. Tiebreakers will be decided in following order : Points > War wins > Set w/l ratio > Amount of set wins

**FAQ**

1. *How is contribution towards clan prize pool calculated?*
Contribution towards the clan winning prize is calculated as 1 set -> 1 point of contribution. Doesn't matter if the set is a win or a loss.

2. *How is MVP calculated?*
Players get 1 point for a set win and an additional point if the win is 3-0

Update to prizes - everyone that participates with at least 1 set played will get an ingame emote. Everyone that wins at least 1 set will get an additional ingame emote.

Group standings have been updated in ⁠groups-and-matchups (looks scuffed on small screens but discords and tables dont go well together) ⁠tournament-rules have been clarified what happens in an event of a tie following groups conclusion. Tiebreakers have been written in tournament format rule 5. Tournament format rule 3 has been ammended to what it was supposed to be - it mistakenly said that semi finals participants would face clans from opposite group. This does not work for the format as you already are facing opposite group matchups during group phase. Now it states correctly that semi finalists face clan that passes from the same group.

There have been some questions raised about needing clarification regarding characters that are exceptions to the full teams rule. As it currently stands sentence says : **Starrk and Shinji are exceptions to this rule as their condition depends on opponents team and not themselves** Starrk and Shinji were supposed to be the examples of this behavior, not the only ones that fall into it. Every character whose **condition depends on opponents team and not themselves** as the rule says is exempt from full team rule. What that means is if the character can trigger his own stun/heal/drain only if an opponent has a specific type of character that allows him to do that then he is a part of this exemption. Further examples that were mentioned yesterday : Dordonni and Edorad can only drain/stun if an enemy has a drainer/stunner so they are not considered drainers/stunners. Bankai Soifon can only heal if the enemy has affliction damage so she is not considered healer. Nnoitora however even though he has a conditional drain, the drain depends on the opponents ability to use a non strategic skill. Every character in the game has at least 1 non-strategic skill so it doesn't matter what characters the opponent picks, nnoitora can trigger a drain ingame therefore he is considered a drainer. @maqas was kind enough to prepare a modified list of what every character counts as that I will now paste in #character-attributes . The list however is not guaranteed to be without a fault as we are all people and can mistakes, especially when we don't even see things the same way. So if you see something on the list that you believe is contrary to the clarification that was posted here please contact me directly and we will either modify the list if its truly wrong or explain directly to you and anyone else who it may concern why it's considered as such on the list.

With server going through updates week 2 will be extended by 24 hours. There will be no further extensions for week 2 even if tomorrow ends up busy with more server updates or downtime.

For gameweek 3 and onwards post thread template and set results **solely on soul-boards**.

A thing to note going into week 3: New batch of characters is no longer banned. Captain Urahara and Hell Verse Ichigo remain banned.

With war topics now being created only on s-b, if you find a problem with them, you can create separate ones in your own discord to track progress. Further clarifications for dodge penalties: Every dodge penalty that has been accepted by the staff following captains submitting proof results with a set win that does not count towards the MVP award for the clan that submitted proof and that win will count as 3-1 set win should there come a need for tiebreakers to go as deep as games won within a set.

Goes without saying but latest batch of characters is banned in the current round. You may add it as rule 10 on war threads @Clan captain

Rununaga is no longer considered a drainer following the balance update

I will ask all clan captains to send me dodge proofs if you have any. Unlike previous weeks please send them in **before** the deadline ends. Do try to find your opponents even if you submit proofs as the dodge wins may not be accepted by the staff if proofs are deemed insufficient. 1 more week of groups after this and then 4 semifinalists will be decided. Remember adding people to your roster that played for other clans is not against the rules. They only cannot play for your clan in the active week if they already played for a different clan in same week. And players that havent played at all have no limitations and can start whenever.

Groups week 3 has been extended to June 26th due to new character releases per agreement between the staff.

Group stage week 4 is officially over

Following dodge proof submits ruling has been made for final week of groups as such - Los Lobos get penalised with 5 default losses for not showing up. EVIL gets penalised with 4 default losses for waiting until last moment to post anything and half of members being unresponsive. Groups have been updated based on these additional dodge resolutions. Group 1 semifinalists are **Tamashii** and **Wandenreich** Group 2 semifinalists are **Nijyuu Shoutai** and **Cataclysm Supernova** Congratulations to them! As per tournament rules 1st from Group 1 will face 2nd from Group 1 and same for Group 2 for the semifinals. Semifinals begin on **July 4th 8 PM CEST 1 PM CDT** There may be an update on banned characters and amount of bans available per clan. Announcement for that will come tomorrow. Once again a reminder as now there is additional time to consider it - people that played for one roster in group stage can sub in for another going into semifinals as long as they join/already are in the said clan. These players start from 0 participation points when it comes to joint prize but can build it up by playing sets in new team. MVP points for those players remain unchanged even with team change. New participants can also still be added at any point. That is it from the main info, on personal note - It was a very tight with 3 teams at 10 points in Group 2! Both Nijyuu Shoutai and Cataclysm Supernova had however 4 war wins over Njiyuu Shoutai BR Squads 3 war wins which was the first tiebreaker. Had the first tiebreaker been amount of sets won it would've been Nijyuu Shoutai that was out and yet they were first like this! Thank you for the tight competition, if I host again I will adapt rules to ensure from the start that performing clans do not feel shunted by the luck of the draw. I hope that whoever else hosts in the future will try to do the same.

@Tamashii @Wandenreich after discussing with rest of the staff claim to void Kuchikis sets because he wasn't added to the roster decision is as such - Set vs Bubblechews is voided, set vs Bigrican stands as accepted. Bigricans set would have been voided had he or his clanmates came out with the claim before set vs Bubblechews started. War was paused 9 hours before deadline. That pause is now over, you have 9 hours to finish any matches. Score is 4-2 for Wandenreich. Captains please make sure that your members are in the roster to validify the sets, opposing members please reach out with any potential wrongs right away, otherwise malicious intentions can and will be assumed in the future.

@Wandenreich @Cataclysm Supernova Final officially begins as of this moment . Deadline is longer than usual to incorporate full next weekend as well. End of deadline is **27th July 2 AM CET / 26th July 7 PM CDT** Number of banned characters is expanded to **5 CLAN BANS** and **5 INGAME BANS**. 1 up from previous 4 for both. Clan that posts the topic will post it with 3 bans, responding clan will post all 5 of their bans and original poster will confirm that war is ready and post remaining 2. All other rules remain the same as until now. Characters banned by default as well as banned new character releases remain the same as in semi-finals. I will update MVP standings now. Participation part awards will be calculated following the war end. Good luck everyone.
