Espada number 8, the scientist of the Espada, Szayel is highly intelligent and infinitely sadistic. Szayel prefers to study his enemies from afar in order to learn their skills and abilities, and then later negate them, allowing his Fraccion to finish them off.

Physical and reiatsu damage will instantly be decreased by 5 each time they use a new non-strategic skill for 4 turns. This skill will end if Szayel is killed.
